The exhibition Pop in Space explores artists’ responses to the Space Race during the Cold War.
Pop in Space explores artists’ responses to the Space Race during the Cold War. Artists such as Eduardo Paolozzi, Gerald Laing, David Lamelas and Kiki Kogelnik, among others, employed space imagery to reflect the glamour and power of infinite exploration and introduced a striking space age imagery during the 1950s and 60s. Half a century later, the exhibition explores tensions from the technological and ideological rivalry between the U.S. and the Soviet Union, both focused on attaining a first in space exploration.
