By using his body as a canvas Hetain’s art of unconventional Mehndi designs allow him to explore and question what it is to be a young British Asian living in Britain today. Through juxtaposing traditional Mehndi techniques normally associated with Hindu prayer and wedding ceremonies with the designs and patterns in the Georgian Gallery Hetain begins to open up underlying questions about his own identity, and those of many others around him.
Nanda Gadhia, Middlesex ‘I think Hetain’s work is great. He has artist ideas that appeal not only to the art lovers but also to a whole generation of young British Asians who know what it’s like to be British Asian’.
