An exhibition of work by Edwin Butler Bayliss will illustrate his importance as one of the few 19th century painters of the industrial landscape.

The son of a local ironmaster, his inspiration came from the factories and mines of the Black Country, particularly the area around Bilston and Tipton close to the Hickman furnaces.

Also featured in this exhibition are the works of Butler Bayliss’ contemporaries including William Sidney Causer (1876- 1958), Richard Samuel Chattock (1825 – 1906) and Joseph Vickers de Ville (1856– 1925). Present-day artists Robert Perry, Brian Steventon, Paul Hipkiss, and Arthur Lockwood will also have work on display.
