As we gear up to become the first English city to welcome the prestigious British Art Show 9 on January 22 the Art Gallery Improvement Scheme works have now entered the final stages.

During this critical transition to the new facilities the current café will have to close from Monday 6 December for a short period before the new ground floor café is operational next month.

It will provide a new menu, additional seating and space for visitors to dine and enjoy the city’s art collection and touring exhibitions. British Art Show 9 will give visitors the opportunity to see the UK’s largest touring exhibition of contemporary art from Hayward Touring Gallery.

Throughout December there are still activities at the gallery such as Christmas activities, Elfie Selfie trail, and viewing our wonderful Georgian Gallery. Visitors are advised to check social media (Twitter @WolvArtGallery or Facebook @WolverhamptonArtGallery) or the art gallery website for the latest details before visiting.

We would like to thank visitors to the gallery for bearing with us over the festive period while the Art Gallery ramps up to open new spaces, a fantastic new café and world-class exhibitions.

Staff are on hand at all times to help answer your queries. If you have any comments or questions please email [email protected]
