Clive Barker is one of the icons of British Pop Art.
Trained initially as a painter, much of Barker’s inspiration came from his experience at Vauxhall Motors where he worked on the assembly line with chrome-plated and leather car parts.
The exhibition covers themes as diverse as portraiture, conceptual art, classical art, and war and conflict. As well as early wall-mounted pieces such as Diamond Target and Painted Dartboard, many of Barker’s most striking chrome-plated Pop Art sculptures will be on display, including the full series of his ‘cake stands’ which have never before been shown together.
Selected recent works from the 1990s and 2000s will also be included.
